IX CONFERENCIA CIENTÍFICA INTERNACIONAL MEDIO AMBIENTE SIGLO XXI, Cuba 2015

Del 24 al 27 de noviembre de 2015, la Universidad Central de Las Villas, Cuba, con el auspicio del Ministerio de Educación Superior dela Repúblicade Cuba acogerán la IX Edición de la Conferencia Científica Internacional Medio Ambiente Siglo XXI, MAS XXI 2015, que sesionará en el Hotel EUROSTARS Cayo Santa María.

La Energía, Recursos, Medio Ambiente, Agenda 21 Local, Desarrollo Sostenible y Educación Ambiental, son los temas centrales que promoverá el evento y es la fuente de la invitación a la discusión científico y propiciará un fructífero intercambio entre especialistas de las más diversas partes del mundo en temas de gran actualidad y trascendencia, que serán abordados con el mayor rigor científico-académico y con una visión de futuro que permita enfrentar de manera ventajosa las problemáticas ambientales del actual siglo.

From November 24th to 27th, 2015, the Central University of Las Villas, Cuba with the auspices of the Ministry of Higher Education of the Republic of Cuba will host the eighth edition of the International Scientific Conference XXI Century Environment, MAS XXI, which will be held in EUROSTARS Hotel Santa Maria Beach Resort Key.

The Energy, Resources, Environment, Local 21 Agenda, Sustainable Development and Environmental Education are the central topics that will be promoted and the event will also be the source of the invitation for scientific discussion. It will encourage a fruitful exchange among specialists of the most diverse parts of the world, and this exchange will be approached with the highest scientific-academic rigor and with a future vision to face the environmental problems of the current century in a favorable way.

The Caribbean Youth Environment Network launches Earth Day video

CYEN launches its SIDS video in celebration of Earth Day 2014

In support of the International Year of Small Island Developing States (IYOS) and in recognition of the celebration of Earth Day 2014 (22nd April), the Caribbean Youth Environment Network (CYEN) is launching this short video, through social media channels, which articulates many of the concerns and aspirations of our young Caribbean citizens.

PHOTOGRAPHY CONTEST Climate Change in Latin America and the Caribbean

The United Nations Environment Program (UNEP), through the Regional Gateway for
Technology Transfer and Climate Change Action in Latin America and the Caribbean
(REGATTA), invites you to participate in its photo contest that will award those
photographs that best reflect i) climate change impact in Latin America and the
Caribbean or ii) mitigation and adaptation measures being undertaken in the fight
against climate change in the region.

My World, My SIDS Project. Great opportunity for youth.

UNESCO and UNICEF launch My World My SIDS

Applications are open from young people from small island developing states to participate in the 2013 SIDS youth networking: My World My SIDS.

Selected young people from the Pacific, Caribbean and Indian/Atlantic Ocean regions will have a chance to participate in the preparation process for the SIDS 2014 global meeting (www.sids2014.org) by presenting youth voices at the regional and inter-regional preparatory meetings held in 2013. Through a series of regional conference in Jamaica, Fiji and the Seychelles, young people will be able to discuss the challenges for SIDS from a youth perspective and provide proposals for the post 2015 development agenda and next strategy for sustainable development in SIDS.

If you are passionate about your world and your island home, are an active youth worker and advocate, and would like to participate in this process, UNESCO and UNICEF are offering to support the travel costs for selected young peoples’ participation in the regional youth conferences. Self-funded applicants will also be considered.

Get involved in the 2nd International Scientific Recreational Camp from 21-25 January, 2013 in Cuba

The 2nd International Scientific Recreation Camp is a national event with foreign participation, featuring students and professors from the Nature and Tourism Project of the International School of Physical Education and Sports. This University trains professionals from 85 countries and different continents like Asia, Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean.

The Science Camp is an interdisciplinary meeting to exchange experiences related to the environment, which is held every two years in a camping site located in the North Coast of Mayabeque Province, Cuba.

Taller Nacional “ZAPATA 2012”, Cuba

La Delegación Territorial del Ministerio de Ciencia, Tecnología y Medio Ambiente (CITMA) de la provincia de Matanzas, el Centro Nacional de Áreas Protegidas (CNAP) y el Centro de Información, Gestión y Educación Ambiental (CIGEA), lo invita a participar en el Taller Nacional de Humedales “Zapata 2012”a celebrarse desde el 28 al 30 de noviembre del 2012, en la Ciénaga de Zapata, Matanzas, Cuba.

 Los debates aquí, permitirán conocer, los avances en las investigaciones, estrategias y proyectos que en estos sitios se implementan,  así como las  actividades de manejo,  rehabilitación y adaptación al cambio climático.

Todas estas acciones permitirán elevar la calidad de vida de las comunidades locales y su vinculación con las labores de gestión ambiental y manejo de los recursos naturales.

Este taller se desarrolla en la Ciénaga de Zapata,  declarada Sitio Ramsar y Reserva de la Biosfera, posee una superficie de 4 322 km2, de los cuales 1 670 km2, constituyen terrenos cenagosos, es un importante sitio de refugio de más de 165 especies de aves migratorias y de especies autóctonas y una cuenca hidrográfica de interés nacional y con una morfología  cársica muy interesante.
